New Art Alert! I am really proud of this work I made thinking about community, neighborhoods and friendly people. As I start my journey of being a wheelchair user I have been thinking a lot about navigating abelism and also how I will need to rely on strangers a lot more than before (getting the ramps on public transit, opening doors for me, and generally making sure that I am included.) With this understanding of the growing reliance on collective kindness I will be rolling into I see this work as an expression of my dreams for this future. For connections between neighbors, asking the question what if everyone in my surroundings or on the streets were friends….and how can we all be friendlier to each other.
