Sunsets in Gouache

Lately I have been really enjoying painting sunsets in Gouache. It really relaxes and grounds me and I have enjoyed the confidence of painting a sunset that Gouache gives me. It is just so fun too! I use fluid big bottles. I use them also for the workshops that will be happening later this year teaching about Jewish queer artists. They are a fun medium to play with in addition to watercolor as well. All of these studies on A4 paper took me 2-5 hours, because it is important each layer fully dries before layering. In some parts I really enjoyed blending the colors, in others I tried to show big dry brush strokes to highlight the texture. The black was a dream to work with because I could just lay it on in chunks and there was no difference in pigmentation. Much easier than black in watercolor. More to come!
